Yesterday room 28/29 were going for there 2nd swim this week I didn't have a towel so I dyed in the sun.
First we walked there then our group got dressed in the dolphins group was Raj, Ridwan, Blake and Mauriora. When all of the dolphins got dressed we got in the pool when I got in I went pale that's how cold I was. Mrs M told us to run behind Dee we ran about 2 or 3 laps ( we were running in a circle ) then Mrs M told us to float on our backs.
After we did that Mrs M said "were going to practising our arms again ( this was my first time at swimming ) so I didn't know what arms was. But she showed us then she said to do what she did but walking. Then after 2 more laps Mrs M told us to still walk but put your chin just above the water. So we did that I wasn't going to stay but I changed my mind. Then we had to the same thing but put our face in the water then we yours a bored the i t was free time!!
Then Mrs M got some hoop looking inflatable thing that goes on the water then she got some small hoop looking thing that sunk. After 10-20 minutes I got out but just when I got in the changing room everyone got out then when I ( and everyone ) got dreased we went back to class.
Yesterday we had fantastic Friday on a Thursday because we were going to do our showcase on Friday. We went to our groups and we sat down I was in vintage games. We had learnt these 6 games 4 square, elastics, long rope, knuckle bones and bump.
We were making a video so we didn't haft to preform when we were at the assembly. I started playing 4 square I started in the 2nd square. When I got the ball thrown at me was out then then someone else was in then straight away he was out. Then I was in toilet then king finally threw at number three then ten minutes or so he left then five minutes or so two people had asked " can I play," then an other ten minutes or so the king left. Then five minutes or so everyone left then me and an other kid year 5 I think were stuck with the ball so we made up some games and played them. After a while 2 people came we had forgot we could of played 4 square but we carried on and when two Tanzee and Eliani ( that was from my class ) stole one of the balls. Then I realized then said " you know we can play 4 square but it was the end of the the session so we went to our classes and did what we normally do at the afternoons.
On Sunday me, Liam, dad, Emma and my ante went to a beach that I don't know the name of.
First we drove to the beach. I tried to go to sleep Liam had his mp 3 player on so I couldn't. Did I mention my dad got a new van it was an auto dad doesn't like auto cars and vans he likes Manuel cars and vans. Dads van was an 8 seater. Me and Liam's favorite seats were the very back ones.
After we arrived we went to the beach when we reached the beach I went on the sand to make a sand volcano. dad asked us if we wanted to go for walk I said no Liam said yes they went for there walk I finished my sand castle when I was finished I destroyed it. About 30 minutes later they came back dad said there was deep sand so I said "can I go," " Liam can take you," dad said. So we went to the deep sand when we got there the sand started to go down it got deeper and deeper as we had gone father then I slipped. Then my feet were stuck in the sand I don't know why but I covered my whole legs. Then dad came and said " you know I saw everything," then I said "I can't get out," then dad said "cover him" then I got out. Liam was going to get dad before dad came I said "you'll owe me nothing if you get dad," Liam owed me 3£ then we went to where we were sitting before we left while we were walking Liam and my ante got into a fight my ante won when we got there we left.
Sorry I forgot what day I was going to you talk about. Anyways Now I'm going to talk about when I saw the movie pan. have you seen pan yet?
First around 7:00 me and my step brother Liam were minding our own business then Emma Liam said in all of a sudden "we're going to botany in an hour" I said "why," "were going to the bank and other stuff" Emma said. Emma's bank is ANZ ok. In an hour we git changed out of our pajamas and in to real cloths we had to take a bus Emma had glasses so she couldn't drive and dad took the only car ( he has a van ) we had Auckland transport cards a.t for short once we swiped the card pass that says tag on on the top. Once we got at botany we went to ANZ and Emma went in the que ( that was long ) all she wanted to do was put cash on her card then a woman came and asked "why are you waiting" Emma replayed with "I'm just putting money on my card to be honest I think that happened I was sitting so I gust saw them talking after a minute or so Emma the thing where you put your card in and do a pin then it pops up with 6 things for you to chose from. The woman told Emma how to put cash on her card. After that we left ANZ we went to the movies to get the tickets before liam said " I bet ya were going to the movies," and he was correct. Now we were of to get some lollies the store was called the sweet land. The only type of name I remember was giant fuzzes. Liam ate a lolly when Emma didn't pay yet when Emma payed we left to go to New world to buy drinks for us once that was done we went to the movie Emma tricked me and said it was the maze runner 2 when I saw it I hated it so scary even thinking about it makes me scared when the movie started I relised the movie was pan I got angry at Emma when I got calm again I watched the movie it was good at the end I did a spew in a plastic bag then I put it in a bin and left.
We did this because we were reading a book called Michael Morpurgo Kensuke's kingdom and we did this activity because the teacher said we had to. This was tricky because I had to memorise parts of the story. I liked this because I got to do one of my favorite animals.
Iam learning to extend my knowledge of new vocabulary. this was easy because I gessed what it meant and then searched on dictionary then it told me the proper meaning of the word write it in my own words Boom done.
An improper fraction is two ornery fraction's made into an improper one ( that basically means the numerator is bigger then denominator ).
What is a mixed fraction?
A mixed fraction is a whole number and a proper fraction combined
how do you change a mixed fraction's to an improper fraction?
you multiply the full number times the denominator. Then you add the numerator after you add it all together. then you change the numerator with your answer
This was hard because when I played the game I didn't know my fractions well at all but now I know most of my fractions like one fifth of 40 = 8
On Tuesday the 21st of July room twenty eight twenty nine went to plant native trees. There was three people I only remember two Carl and Paul. There were five trees Paul only said three. Oh I just remembered the third person was Anna. We did this so the path way ( that was made of gravel ) doesn't go on a slope. Anyways Paul said the types of trees there were Toi Toi's, Flax's and cabbage trees. Oh and Paul showed us an Fertilizer pellet (It looks like a greenish big mint ) Paul also said " a Fertilizer pellet makes the trees grow a little faster," he also also said " it gives the trees a little boost ya know, " after ms M said to " get into pears , " so ... we got into pears ( I was with peter ). There were two types of shovels an heavy one ( that's orange ) and a light one ( that's grey ) first I chose the heavy one but after a few seconds me and peter were pretty shore it was to heavy oh did I machine that Carl was watching us Carl said " I'll get you boys an other one ". It was tricky when there was fat roots before we left we washed our hands. I felt a bit tired.
We did this because everyone need trees in winter to breathe. This was easy because all I had to do was write stuff and correct it easy.
I'm learning use prior knowledge and experience when we relate to a given text topic to construct a reader’s response. This was easy because I knew all of peter's questions ( Peter's questions were easy. Our next step is to do harder questions and more questions.
We are learning about geometry, edges, faces and corners of a 3D shape. This was easy because I know a lot about geometry especially 3D shapes. It was easy as marshmallows. My next step is to learn about nets of 3D shapes.
Yesterday room 28 ( not room 29 ) went to youth town I love youth town ( I'm being sarcastic ). Anyways the teachers were megaton, brad and I don remember the third person sorry. We started of as orderly as it can start youth town said good morning to us we said that to them today we were doing something with hockey stick one part was round and the other was flat. First Brad explained the rules of using this type of hokey stick. Then he explained the rules of a game. Now I'm going to explain the rules ingredients for this game : About 27 people, Hokey sticks, a ball for everyone, a big room or lots of space How to hold a stick : get the hand you don write with and put it on top of the grip ( if you have one ) put the hand you write with at the end of the grip. Your not allowed to use the round side you tern it around ( the name is thums up thums down. Now open your legs wide then put your the stick in the center of your legs but its a little bit forwards if you don't have any of the ingredients above you can't do any of this

On Thursday room 28 went to Te Tuhi we were learning to about vertickill gardins. First we meet Jermy. Scond we went to an art room. Therd we sat at a chear each. Fourth we got an vivid and then we took the capes off the vivides then Jermy told us to draw on a platic bottle. ( If you didn't know we had platic bottes ) then wecut it out with sisiers ( again if you didn't know we had sisers ). Fith we decrecared our bottles with karaka and kowhai stickers we cold aslo draw on the stickers.then we had to put some stuff
in the bottles then we played a little bit of hang man. Then Jemry said some stuff then we we said thank you to Jermy. Then we left Te Tuhi and went back to school.
We have been learning to summarise information. I summarised this article that I found
on Kiwi Kid News. I found this tricky because I had to think about what I wanted to
write. The easy part was to put the pictures in. My next step is to think more deeply.
Last week room 28 went to Te Tuhi we were doing a thing called How the kiwi lost its wings. First we did a play I was a tree . Second we went over the stuff to do first we had to pick which paper we wanted ( if you are wondering you need paper you need paper for this). Third we had to draw stuff & then we had to cut the stuff that we drew. Then we glueed it
I have been learning find and summarise information in a non-fiction text. This was easy because I had to write stuff that is interesting to me. It was a bit tricky to put it in my own words. My next step is to keep practising.
Mayor Len brown
Last week Mayor Len brown came to elm park school. He was here for the green gold enviroschool awerid. It was quite loud first then not that loud. First The quire soung a song but befour that we welcomed the visters. Mayor Len brown welcomed the visters. Then the quire soung then the kupa haka soing something. After an whole bnch of other stuff we got the awerid.
last week room 28 went out for bike skills. We were learning about hellmits. Room 28 learnt how to put on a hellmits first we were checking if it was strong enife mine was. Then we put 2 fingers above our eyebrows. then we titinted it up. Then we took it of.
I have been learning to describe the characters in a story. We read a story called Who's a Big Bully Then by Michael Morpurgo. We used a venn diagram to compare to the two main characters. I found this tricky because it was hard to think of words. My next step is to think more carefully about the characters when I am reading a story.
One day it was a very suney day suddenly I saw godzilla it was crazy it blew up a tower boom! I got a sowed then... godzilla made minoens " what the" I siad. The minoens had mini sowed's. I stabed and stabed and finlley I stabed them all but... I had to deal with godzilla it blasted fire! I ran and ran. Then I found a gold sawed. I chargd! I found a poshin that mackes you giant. So I drank it. Then the challnenge was on! My sawed was big to. I punched godzilla he was dead very well.
We have been learning to add detail to our writing by doing the 100 word challenge.
This week some of room 28/29 did the 100 word chanlage. We had to do 100 words. I had to wight a about a picher. I woght about a guy called steve. I tryed and tryed my hardest. I tryed and still tryed. I still tryed I finished jost on time.
I was learning to read numbers up to a million and to say which is bigger or smaller.
The thing that helped me most was: - using my basic facts to help with bigger numbers - remembering to look at the left to see if the digits are bigger - using streets and houses to break up bigger number - practising on Mathletics
My next step is to: - try the same activity using bigger numbers - use this information to do more problems
This week at asemibly room 28/29 dindent win the mathletics trophy. I was disponted. I was quite angy. I thoght try harder room 28/29. 19/20 won. I thoght we haft to beat room 19/20. I thoght agien 28/29 need to win.
